Pinnacle Bank Arena

The joint venture between Midwest Steel Works of Lincoln, Nebraska and LeJeune Steel of Minneapolis, Minnesota has been awarded the $13.7 million, 3,500 – 4,000 ton steel and erection contract on the Pinnacle Bank Arena by the joint venture between Mortenson Construction of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Hampton Construction of Lincoln, Nebraska.  See web cam for progress on the arena.

The West Haymarket Redevelopment Project is a multi-faceted endeavor intended to enrich and revitalize the 400 acres of blighted and underutilized property that lies on the western edge of Lincoln’s downtown and Haymarket district. The proposed project possesses a number of new and exciting elements, such as: a new civic arena, hotels, community plaza, retail and office space as well as upscale residential units. The area will be supported by the addition of about 7,000 parking spaces and ample public gathering areas.

The arena itself will contain an estimated fixed-seat capacity of 16,500, with possible future expansion expanding capacity to 18,000. Distributed over approximately 450,000 square feet on four concourse levels, the facility will feature the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) men’s and women’s basketball teams as anchor tenants, and will provide dedicated locker rooms, training rooms, and support space for UNL game operations.
