National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Midwest Steel Works has been awarded the 752 ton steel and erection contract on the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Systems Integration Facility located on the campus of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden Colorado by J.E. Dunn Construction Company of Denver Colorado.  NREL is the DOE’s primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency.  NREL’s work focuses on advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies from concept to the commercial marketplace through industry partnerships.  This facility will be the nation’s only facility that can conduct integrated megawatt-scale testing of all components and strategies critical to deploying renewable energy and other energy-efficiency technologies into the nation’s electrical grid at a utility scale.
